New Logo!

After the Megaprim mess in Second Life and I was able to get the store up again, I decided to go ahead and design a new logo to display before I put all the items back in along with some new stuff geared towards Sci-Fi to go along with the Gorean and Medieval. Nothing fancy but I love it because I did it myself.

I will change the backgrounds around from time to time but this is it for 2012.

Celebrating Capua: Eshe in Rose and Champagne

I am killing two birds with one stone with this post.  Releasing two new dresses celebrating the role play on the sim, Capua and also allowing you all to see me grow when it comes to taking photos for my ads.

I have always wanted to create clothing but some people can be so critical of those just beginning in clothing design so rather than giving it a try, I sat on it until now.

Each dress is only 200L, there are no scripts, the pieces are shirt layer, pant layer, and an attachment for the skirt that is at the spine.  The permissions are modify, copy, and no transfer.  They are named after my character that I role play with in Capua.  Enjoy!

Hail, Capua!

We are almost done with the first line of items of the Capua Living collection.

The collection was created to celebrate the new sim, Blood and Sand which is based on the tv series, Spartacus.

Check back for more updates!

The texture of the roman building was purchased from an SL vendor and the rest was me fumbling through.  I will get better but I think this was a pretty good start.

The beauty in the ad is my alt, Eshe.  She is the hairdresser of Capua and she kinda killed her husband.  LOL.  Ok.  She killed him flat out.

Where are the Furnishings Folks?

There are TONS of blogs and websites dedicated to the items that make our avatars look good.  The hair, skins, clothes, shoes, and my list could go on.

Even with the blogs and sites that offer help with photography in SL, they focus on the avatar and what makes them look more realistic, more beautiful, more emo, and again, my list could go on.

Does anyone focus on furnishings?  I will let you know if I find some of those folks.

The Beginning For Great Photos

I have been reading a ton of blogs and viewing even more videos from people that I feel do a great job of taking photos either to advertise their products or give their views on what others make so that our avatars look fab.

The one thing that has become clear is that it starts with the environment.  The shadows, lighting, and other fancy names I am learning.  This can lead to less time having to correct and/or manipulate in Photoshop or Gimp.  That works for me!

Strawberry Singh has a wonderful site that has a tutorial section. I promise that you will be inspired due to the tutorials being easy to understand and the results making your photos pop to life. Check out the comments too. Other photographers share some helpful information on the site as well. Please roam around the entire site. The girl is talented.

I am normally a Phoenix Viewer girl but I have fallen in love with Kristen’s Viewer for my photos. I am not sure what the difference is but I like it! I have crashed a few times but I believe that I had my settings too high. See! I am learning just like you guys.

My trial and error shots will be posted this weekend!

New Section for Tutorials and Help

Currently, I am struggling with my ads for items that I make and I do not want to spend tons of lindens on hiring a photographer in SL.  So I have been searching far and wide for tutorials on YouTube and other places.  This got me thinking that I bet there are others that sell items and may not have the best skills in photography.

As I find sites and other blogs that were helpful to me, I will add them under this section.  I know it is not always easy to ask for help or when you do, people act like you are asking for the secret sauce to the Big Mac or something.  I say, if you are truly creative, giving out tips won’t take away from what you can do or stop people from buying your items.  You will always have your own flavor and swag that no one can take away.

Oh!  And if any of you have links to helpful places, please post in comments.

Thank You, Blew!

This is my new profile picture done by the lovely Ms. Blew.  She always captures what I see in my Emuna.

Pea in the Pod Mall – Soulful Looks’ New Home

As far as we are concerned, this will be our last move!

This move was more than finding a bigger space or a sim with more traffic.  Pea in the Pod is the creation of my Second Life grandmother, Melody Parks.  I guess that it can be said that this is a “Family Thing” now.

Pea in the Pod caters to the avatars that are role playing out pregnancy.  The colors are vibrant and the outfits are up to date with flair.  Grams says that being pregnant does not mean a woman loses her desire to be beautiful.

As always, Soulful Looks will continue to provide items with that ethnic feel to add something special to your home, office or business.

In keeping with the theme of the mall, we have created Kidz Korner for the youngsters of the families that visit.  Our personal favorites of the area are the Bean Bag chairs that come with two animated sits for the affordable price of 50L.

Please drop by to see what we are up to and check back frequently!
